WARNING!
Raccoon, Fox, and Skunk, are "RVS", Rabies Vector Species and can not be relocated. While typically a rabies infected animal is usually lethargic or aggressive, staggering, growling, foaming at the mouth, unusually friendly, paralysis, and acting down right peculiar, you can't always see the symptoms. If  you or a pet have been exposed to the saliva and/or blood of any of these animals, or any animal, wild, or domestic, with any of these symptoms,
GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY!  Remember, If you see a mostly nocturnal animal during the day, DOES NOT mean that it is infected. If you should see an animal with any symptoms, please avoid this animal and call a licensed NWCO S.M.L. Nuisance Wildlife or DEP.  For more VERY inportant RABIES info, click on the DEP link. This info should prove to be very useful.
The Raccoon (procyon lotor), is usually found in wooded ares near water, streams, and marshes, but can easily adapt to developed areas. They breed late winter or early spring. After a 63 day gestation period the young are born in April or May. They average four cubs per litter with one litter per year. The raccoon can climb up gutter down spouts, siding, chimney brick, etc. They will try to get in a broken window to an attic or an open or unsecure gable vent, sheds, and barns.
The Fox, Red (vulpes vulpes) right,
Gray (urocyon cinereoargenteus). The reds have orange-red coat with black feet, "white tipped" tail and white belly. Ear backs are black. Color phases change but always with a white tipped tail and black feet.  Breeding from January though March, about 53 day gestation period, averaging   4-5 pups. Reds are more frequently seen even in the day time. The fox can carry the raccoon rabies virus and also mange and distemper. A special permit is required for trapping fox.
The stripped skunk (mephitis mephitis) meaning "bad odor". Having a pluffy black coat with paterns of white stipes from it's neck down it's back, usually making 2 stipes and mixing at the tail. Breeding takes place during February and March. Gestation period is 60-70 days, and averaging 6 young, born April and June. In my mind, skunks,  Their diet consists of grubs, snails, worms, nuts, fruits, amphibians, eggs, and garbage. Skunks are somewhat  docile, and they do warn before they spray, by stomping feet and raising the tail,

When a mother raccoon is nervous enough she'll move her pups to a new location that she has prepared.
usually something change to make her protect the pups from danger.
